Letters for Aug. 29: Police shortages aren’t because of the protests, they are because an officer killed George Floyd

Letter writers oppose the idea that the George Floyd protests are the reason people don’t want to become police officers, discuss Republican lies, and suggest Vice President Kamala Harris will lose the 2024 presidential race.

A former employee sued the city of Minneapolis on May 21 alleging Chauvin injured her when he hauled her from her minivan and pinned her to the ground with his knee for several minutes in January 2020, just as he would later do to snuff the life out of George Floyd.
