The panel had only been deliberating for about a half-hour when the judge informed lawyers for both sides that a juror was being taken to a hospital, the defense attorney said. A mistrial was declared and the case will be retried in February.

A federal court jury determined Officer Mark Morando illegally arrested and assaulted a man who'd called police for a domestic dispute. Morando was a Norfolk officer at the time but is now employed by Virginia Beach police.
