JAMES CITY — One person died and others were sent to the hospital Tuesday night after a vehicle crash at the intersection of Old Stage Road and Fieldstone Parkway in James City County, police said.
The county’s police and fire departments arrived at the scene around 8:20 p.m., according to a news release. Police said a Ford F-250 pickup truck traveling west on Old Stage Road hit a Honda Odyssey as its driver tried to turn left from Fieldstone Parkway onto eastbound Old Stage Road.
Suffolk resident Melissa Delano, 44, who was driving the Honda minivan, died at the scene. A passenger in the Honda was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the pickup was treated at the scene and released, but a passenger in the truck was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.
Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, and an investigation is ongoing.
