Virginia Beach police announced that a woman has been charged with felony child neglect in connection to an accidental shooting that injured a 7-year-old boy.
In July, officers responded to the 2400 block of Brush Creek Lane for a report of a shooting. At the scene, emergency services found the child with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. Police said a preliminary investigation found the boy had been shot by another child.
Virginia Beach police said the gun had not been properly secured, and officials have charged Sheneka Warren-Boykins, 38, in connection to the shooting. She is charged with with one felony count of child neglect and one misdemeanor count of allowing access of firearms by children.
