If you have a gift card for LL Flooring, you might want to use it this weekend.

The national home improvement chain, which recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is in the process of closing almost 100 locations, has announced that all store-issued gift cards will expire on Sept. 3 — and they are not redeemable for cash.

“We recently announced plans to close 94 of our stores and closing sales are being held at these locations through September,” the brand notes on a Customer FAQ portion of its website, which was created to handle traffic about the closures. “We have made a few important policy changes at closing stores.”

Among those changes are: All sales are final, inventory is limited, and the use of gifts cards is discontinued — even at stores that will remain open.

“We will continue to accept gift cards at all continuing and closing stores until September 3, 2024,” the website indicates. “After September 3, 2024, gift cards will no longer be accepted.”

The Virginia-based chain, formerly Lumber Liquidators, was founded in 1993, and is well known for its variety of hardwood, laminate and vinyl plank flooring. The company filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 12 and has attributed store closures to inflation and the rising cost of labor, plus a cool down in customer spending. It is in negotiations with “several bidders” regarding its future, it added.

In Virginia, the Woodbridge location is closing, according to its website. The four Hampton Roads stores — at 3756 Virginia Beach Blvd. in Virginia Beach, 416 Campostella Road in Norfolk, 2326 W. Mercury Blvd. in Hampton, and 6508 Richmond Road in Williamsburg — do not appear to be included in the closures. In North Carolina, the Burlington store is listed in the closures. The store on the Outer Banks at 1730 N. Croatan Highway in Kill Devil Hills will remain open.
