    Project 1619 loses ‘a force of nature’ with death of founder Calvin Pearson

    Peninsula native and renowned historian Calvin Pearson, the founder and president of Project 1619, passed away last week at 73. The nonprofit played a crucial role in correcting the narrative about the arrival of enslaved Africans in English-speaking North America.
