Stanley E. Lancaster, Sr. OBITUARY

Stanley E. Lancaster, Sr. OBITUARY

Stanley E. Lancaster, Sr., 97, of Chesapeake, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 9, 2024 at his home.

Born in Landrum, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Burton Lee Lancaster and Edna Orr Lancaster. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Glenna Ballance Lancaster; son, Stanley E. Lancaster, Jr.; siblings, Edward Lancaster, Donald Lancaster, Sr., Finley Lancaster, Starr Quinn and John Paul Lancaster, Sr.; a son-in-law, Kirk Rifenbury. Stanley was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and later served in the Merchant Marines. He retired as an aircraft examiner from the Naval Air Rework Facility in Norfolk. A long-time member of Great Bridge Baptist Church, Stanley taught Sunday school for 25 years and had a deep passion for sharing his love for Jesus with children. He cherished his time spent at the Frost Farm, lovingly referred to as “the farmhouse,” where he worked alongside his brother John to restore and enhance the property. One of his proudest accomplishments was the restoration of his 1931 Ford Model A. Known for his quiet strength, Stanley was an incredible neighbor and a steadfast friend to those around him, always ready to lend a hand or offer support without asking for anything in return. Above all, Stanley will be remembered for his unwavering love of God and family. He made his family a priority in every way, always caring for their needs, both big and small.

Left to cherish his memory are a daughter, June Lancaster Rifenbury; grandchildren, Derek Rifenbury (Carolina) and Kelsey Rifenbury; a great-grandson, Jack Rifenbury; siblings, Billy Lancaster, Nancy Giles and Naida Forbes, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2024 at the Great Bridge Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Dr. Will Langford will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church and at a reception following the service at the church. The interment will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stanley E. Lancaster Memorial Fund, to benefit Great Bridge Baptist Church.
