Byron Clyde Gossett OBITUARY

Byron Clyde Gossett OBITUARY

Byron Clyde Gossett Jr., was born November 28, 1942 and passed on to Glory September 6, 2024 after a progressive illness. Byron or Uncle Junior as he was affectionately called, graduated from Old Dominion University with a Masters in Electrical Engineering and worked at Yorktown Naval Weapon Station until he retired. Byron was predeceased by his wife, Renee; his parents, Clyde and Jean Gossett; and his brother Steve Gossett.

Left to cherish his memories are his son Mark (Erika) and daughter Melissa Jessup (Tony); grandchildren Peyton and Samuel Gossett and Clayton, Allison and Madilyn Jessup. He is also survived by his sister Joy Sauls (Rich); many nieces and nephews and other extended family members, including lifelong best friend, Lawrence Wallace.

Byron’s love of the water included fishing, catching crabs and minnows. He enjoyed a garden every year and his vegetables were the envy of the neighborhood. He was loved by many and will truly be missed. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mary Jo Burden for her loving care of Byron during his time of need. She was a blessing to the entire family.

A graveside service will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 3pm. Reception immediately following at Tabernacle Church of Norfolk, 7000 Granby St. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel is assisting with services.
