Susan Abee Hunter, 76, of Moyock, North Carolina went to be with the Lord peacefully at home, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, experiencing the face of Jesus for the very first time.
Born in Burke County, North Carolina, Susan was the daughter of the late William Abee and Margaret Sloan Harrell Abee. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Dana Hunter and a son, Tommy Hunter. She served as a teaching assistant for nearly 15 years at Hickory High School and later at Hickory Middle School, retiring in 2010. For 40 years, she was a faithful member of Centerpoint Community Church in Chesapeake, where she actively participated in the women’s Bible study and hosted a homegroup. Susan loved the Lord, was deeply devoted to her family, and served others with a spirit of hospitality.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, Tom Hunter; children, Leigh Ann Wells (Rob), Brian Hunter (Jill), Jason Hunter (Dianne), Jeff Hunter (Aimee) and Matthew Hunter; grandchildren, Brittany, Candice, Alan, Emily, Kerri, Susan, Megan, Issac, Carson and Caroline; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Lincoln, Kennedy, Reagan, McKinley and Theodore.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Saturday September 14, 2024 at Centerpoint Community Church, 253 St. Lukes Church Road, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan A. Hunter Memorial Fund, to benefit the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
