Robert Anthony Thorpe, 64, died unexpectedly April 5, 2024, at home. He was born September 13, 1959, in Hackensack, NJ. He was the son of Leslie F. Thorpe and Alice Speiss Thorpe. Robert worked more than thirty years in the automotive business in and around Virginia Beach. Surviving Rob is his wife, Beverly Thorpe, whom he married June 29, 1985; two sons Robert Christopher and Neil Anthony Thorpe, three brothers, Leslie J. Thorpe and sister in law Jeanette of Virginia Beach; Michael B. Thorpe of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Paul W. Thorpe of Hampton, VA; one sister, Elizabeth Michaels and brother in law Jim McAvinue of Leland, NC; one niece, Madisen Lucie and husband Michael of Philadelphia, PA; uncle Joseph Spiess of Palm Beach, FL; two aunts, Theresa Mancini and Shirley Figart of NJ, and a host of cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 3pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home Maestas Chapel. 1801 Baltic Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Immediately following will be a seaside gathering at the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum at 1113 Atlantic Avenue with limited parking in front. Casual dress is encouraged.
